| Harar safe water, sanitation project begins service partially |
Some 99 percent of the construction of Harar safe water and sanitation project launched at a cost of 400 million Birr have began rendering service partially, the state chief Murad Abdil Hadi said.
The state chief told ENA that one of the four pumps has already begun operation and efforts are being deployed to with all four pumps soon.
The chief said upon going fully operational, the project will completely address the shortage of safe water service problem in the town.
Water resource state minister, Adugna Jebessa on his part said the project will enable the town residents to access safe water.
The minister said Ethiopia will likely to meet MDGs that targets 70 percent safe water coverage before 2015.
He said government and World Bank covered the cost for the construction of the project.
The Harar safe water sanitation project traverses more than 70 kilo meters and benefits residents of towns along the project line.
